The VfH Sinfonia

DSC_7378The Voices for Hospices Sinfonia is comprised of professional freelance musicians, many of whom have worked for John Sutton over the last thirty years. They include players from the European Chamber Orchestra, London Mozart Players, LSO, BSO and CBSO plus working musicians from the Hampshire area who regularly play in  theatres, concert halls, radio and television.

Our venue this year is the beautiful Winchester Cathedral, by kind permission of the Dean and Chapter. With 502 singers (maximum allowed under Health and Safety requirements) we need every one of them to be able to see the conductor, orchestra and soloists. To enable this the wonderful Virgers are turning the seating around 90deg with the orchestra and singers on the floor of the Cathedral. The  conductor and soloists on raised staging blocks.  The audience are either in Super Seats on the Chancel steps, (now sold out!) or in the North Aisle, facing the performers.

We are very grateful to all our musicians for donating  their talents and services freely and also  to Rob Rogers  (musickle.com) for allowing us to use his reduced orchestral  version of Elijah,  with which he supports the Congo School for Peace.  www.schoolforpeace.org.
